Clause 3, Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions in ISO/IEC 22989:2022 and ISO/IEC 23053:2022 apply, together with the terms the document defines itself. The public view shows one of those terms, stability at 3.1, and withholds the rest.
The requirement in plain English
The terms and definitions in ISO/IEC 22989:2022 and ISO/IEC 23053:2022 apply, together with the terms the document defines itself. The public view shows one of those terms, stability at 3.1, and withholds the rest.
What the public record says
The public view states that the terms given in 22989 and 23053 apply, plus the following ones. It then shows 3.1 Stability and the notice that only informative sections are public.
Why it matters to you
Definitions are where most robustness arguments fail. Two teams can agree that a model is robust and mean different things: one means the output does not change under noise, the other means accuracy stays above a line on a shifted distribution. The FDIS anchors the vocabulary in 22989 and 23053 and adds its own terms. Because only 3.1 is public, a buyer cannot yet list the full glossary from the public record, and a page that pretends to is guessing. What you can do now is fix the terms you already use and mark the gaps.
Evidence a reviewer asks for
- A glossary with one row per term, the source document and clause, and the date the source was read.
- A note listing the terms you expect the FDIS to define that are not yet public.
- Version control on the glossary, so a change is visible.
- A named owner for terminology across AI, risk and quality.
Checks to run this month
- Do the AI, risk and quality teams use the same definition of robustness?
- Is every definition traceable to a published source?
- Which terms will you re-read on the day the text publishes?
Dates
FDIS registered 2026-08-21. Terms 3.2 onward are not public.
