Clause 2, Normative references

Three documents are normative: 22989:2022 for vocabulary, 23053:2022 for the machine-learning system model, and 24029-2:2023 for the formal-method companion. A dated reference applies in the edition cited.

What the public record says

The public view lists the three references and the standard clause that makes dated references apply by edition. It does not list any other normative reference.

Why it matters to you

A normative reference is not background reading. The vocabulary you use in a robustness claim, the system model you draw, and the boundary between formal and statistical methods all come from these three documents. A method statement that cites only Part 2 is incomplete on its face, because the FDIS makes 22989 and 23053 normative too. The practical check is simple: open your procedure, find the reference list, and compare it with this clause.

The controlled reference list in the method procedure, with edition and date for each entry.
A mapping from each defined term you use to its source in 22989 or 23053.
The system model you use, showing the components named in 23053.
A note saying which parts of 24029-2 you rely on and which you do not.

Checks to run this month

Does the reference list name all three documents, with editions?
Is any term in the procedure defined locally in a way that conflicts with 22989?
Does the system diagram match the component model in 23053?
